The T-10 series troop back personnel parachute system provides the capability to safely deploy airborne soldiers and their individual equipment from an in-flight aircraft for vertical assaults on enemy positions. The T-10 series parachutes are suitable for airdropping personnel from altitudes as high as 10,000 feet MSL.
The T-10B canopy was developed by adding an anti-inversion net to the basic canopy design. This modification so significantly improved the reliability of an already highly dependable parachute that many canopies already in service were retrofitted with the netting.
The T-10C canopy featured improvements that increased the pocket band free length from 4 to 7-1/2 inches and decreased the pocket depth from 5 to 4-1/4 inches. This design change reduced opening shock by creating a slightly larger diameter at the skirt hem, thereby providing a lower rate of descent and a "softer" landing. Additionally, the pack assembly was revised by adding a static line stow bar to each side of the existing webbing loops. These new stow bars accommodate additional stows at the folded ends of the 15 feet 5 inches yellow static line. The static line is attached through the break cord strap on the inside of the bag under the strap pocket and around the deployment bag's main strap, or it can be attached directly around the main strap if the break cord strap is omitted.
The T-10D parachute assembly incorporates a detachable deployment bag with a 15 feet Universal Static Line (USL), a 5 feet extension static line, and a snap hook. The 15 or 20 feet static line allows soldiers to be deployed from several different types of aircraft.
All parachute assemblies are manufactured, inspected, and qualified in strict accordance with current applicable MIL-DTL-6645, MIL-DTL-7567 and MIL-STD-849.
