The T-10R and MIRPS (Modified Improved Reserve Parachute System) are reserve-type parachutes designed to be manually activated by the parachutist via a ripcord in the event of a primary parachute malfunction.
Both parachute assemblies consist of a flat, circular, 24-foot-diameter canopy and a pack assembly with a ripcord. However, their pilot parachutes differ: the T-10R utilizes a spring-actuated, umbrella-type pilot parachute with a bridle line, whereas the MIRPS features a pilot parachute activated by a deployment assistance device, complete with a bridle line and an apex weight.
The 24-foot reserve assembly is intended for use alongside the 35-foot T-10 series or MC1 series main assemblies and must not be used as a primary canopy. When needed, it is manually activated using the ripcord. The packed assembly requires a manual pull force of less than 27 pounds on the ripcord handle to trigger the spring-loaded pilot chute, instantly deploying the reserve canopy.
All parachute assemblies are manufactured, inspected, and qualified in strict accordance with current applicable MIL-DTL-6645, MIL-DTL-7567 and MIL-STD-849.
